These songs were written to help God's people (especially me!) sing the Scriptures, delight in Christ, and live in the hope of his kingdom. I began developing them during a particularly difficult time in my life when I especially needed to hear Scripture over and over again to remind myself of the truth. I was looking for a way to do the following: 1) create songs that are very close to the wording of Scripture, 2) make them very singable and memorable, 3) interpret them within a Reformed and Covenantal perspective, 4) make them explicitly Christ-centered, and 5) view them within an optimistic but not triumphalistic eschatology. By "not triumphalistic" I mean to say that while the kingdom has come and is coming, it typically comes by way of the cross. I found that given the proper instructions and oversight, AI was very good at creating initial drafts that met these criteria. The ideas for most of these songs grew out of sermons and articles I had written, years of theological reflection, and my own challenging circumstances. They are helpful to me. If they also help others, I will be glad.
